A pool that turns hashrate away at 15%

On a chain this size one pool can pass a third of the network in an afternoon, and in September 2026 one did — past half of all BTCB2 hashrate, followed by a patch proposed in earnest to blacklist that pool's payout address at the consensus level, which the Knots maintainer publicly told people not to run. The hashrate came back down voluntarily. Nothing about the episode was fixed by it.

Lazarus holds its stratum to 15% of the network. Only hashrate pointed at our stratum counts; hashrate behind a miner's own DATUM gateway does not, however much of it there is. Over that line a new stratum connection is not accepted and mined on our behalf: it is relayed to one of five other pools and paid by that pool, under the same address, with nothing credited to our window. Miners already here keep mining here. Own-gateway DATUM miners are never relayed, because a miner building their own block templates is not the thing that centralizes a chain. New miners come back automatically once our stratum is under the line.

This is in the connection path rather than in a pledge — our stratum's live network share and the count of connections being relayed right now are both on this page, and a relayed worker's own stats page names the pool that has it. It is the same reasoning as the 0% fee on your own DATUM gateway: the pool wants template construction out of its hands, and hands away hashrate it is not entitled to. How the other pools compare.
